My City Series | Mafalda Bianomano
Mafalda Bianomano Female Founder of Plaisir de Grasse, went back to basics to create something that empowered our sense of Self-Love in its purest form. Born from the love of women, beauty, sex and, the thrill of the cannabis revolution. Plaisir de Grasse was created to celebrate sensuality and joie de vivre. More importantly, we wanted our product to work. So we did away with the cinnamon and black peppercorn commonly used to create heat and went straight to the prized ingredient—pure CBD—and we packed more CBD in each bottle than most other CBD-infused personal intimacy oils you’ll find on the shelves today. Plaisir de Grasse is about relaxing, having fun and experiencing more intense pleasure, whether solo or with another.
Born and Raised or Expat?
Born in LA, raised in Switzerland, England, Italy and France
How did the idea of Plaisir de Grasse come about?
It came to me when I realized the wondrous power that CBD had on our bodies when combined with other natural and powerful ingredients. It changed my sex life and the way I felt about sex.
What are your fondest memories of Plaisir De Grasse when you started your business?
My fondest memory was developing the scent of Plaisir. In order to get just the right perfume, I sampled so many incredible natural oils. I made my husband, children, their friends and boyfriends sample each and every one too until I found the perfect potion. It was fun.
On your Day-to-Day routine?
I rise at 6. I dislike the rising part but I love the morning part. After taking the kids to school, I take the dog for a walk up in the hills. The smell of herbs and cactus are in the air. I often pick them and rub them between my fingers. Smell to me is everything—you can smell something once and remember it forever. Smells have meaning. It’s all very Pavlovian. The smell of Plaisir is the smell of sex.
Tell us some of your favourite spots in LA.?
Jon & Vinny’s on Fairfax is great. The people cruising the streets—from the locals to all the jet-lagged tourists standing in unending lines under the beating sun for a pair of SUPREME tennis shows—.are amazing.
Where do you go to escape?
The furthest part of Malibu I can get to. It still feels like old Malibu down there. Real lips and boobs; big thighs and old VW vans with boards racked on top.
You can’t take a vacation, so you decide to have a staycation, what do you do, where do you eat, where to do stay and why?
Chateau Marmont because it reminds me of a Sofia Coppola movie. Glamorous and decadent… like the ship is sinking and everyone on it knows but still doesn’t want to get off.
What local brands do we have to know about?
I’m really digging the scene of Fairfax- so I’d have to say Tyler the Creator’s line called Odd Future. It’s a great mash-up of hip-hop and old Florida white man golfer.
Where’s your next adventure?
Not sure yet, but I hope back to Mexico and Central America. Nicaragua is a place I love, but it’s had a hard time lately.
Does Travel breed creativity?
Of course, it expands the mind and fills the heart. Travel is everything.

Trails off of Mulholland where running water meets the desert blooms.

I think we’re all working all the time…
14. Give a shout-out to someone in your city that is doing groundbreaking things, and what is it that makes them a trailblazer?
There are so many trailblazers here in LA but I’d have to say it’s the teachers here who have stood up to the school board and the government to fight for what’s right and to keep politics out of our schools.
15. A locals-only, off-the-radar, black book spot?
Angelini’s on Beverly. One of the only places true Italians eat in LA.
16. What’s the next big thing when it comes to _better sex?
17. Currently working on?
Educating people on the wonders of CBD for women’s sexual health. The value of sex to our overall wellness should not be taken lightly.
18. Advice for budding entrepreneurs?
Build something you love and that you want to share with others. Even better, create something that enriches the lives of others.
19. We’re living in a world where our attention to new innovation doesn’t seem to have longevity, how do you find your inspiration to make new waves with long-term prosperity?
I think if you focus on what’s real and what makes people fundamentally happy then you have something worthwhile. Instagram likes are not my focus; people are. And I love making a product for them that they love.
20. Your ultimate playlist?
Leonard Cohen and Bowie’s last album when death is near.
