TAROUDANT
3 NIGHTS ARTISANAL APOTHECARY IMMERSION
Once the capital of Morocco, Taroudant boasts a simplistic grandeur unlike any other. This off the beaten path town is frequented by those in the know. Surrounded by the fertile plains of the Souss Valley. The rich agricultural and botany that grows in this region makes it a prime spot for those wanting to immerse and further develop their love of flora. The Taroudant region cultivates everything from Argan Oil to Neroli, Orange Blossom to a wealth of other Essential Oils.
Taroudant’s location at the foot of the Atlas Mountains makes it an ideal location for reconnecting with self through your connection with nature. The unspoilt landscape calls for a spiritual journey of hiking through the heart of Paradise Valley. Which artfully marries hiking, swimming within the crystal clear rugged pools etched into the landscape and scattered along the river and a moment to just breathe and be consciously connected.
There is a laid back charm to this Berber market town which for centuries has been the hub of the Souss Valley and a key trading post for the crops grown in the fertile valley plains all around. So spend a few magical days here, disconnecting with external distractions and reconnecting with an authentically immersive experience of Morocco.
TAROUDANT JOURNEY HIGHLIGHTS
With other cities and towns in Morocco pulling you into a more hustle bustle mode. Taroudant provides the opposite. It affords that much needed pause, slows you down from the outside in. Allowing you to truly see, smell, taste, touch and feel the true essence of Morocco. With its picturesque backdrop of the Anti Atlas Mountains and the snowcapped peaks of the High Atlas beckoning beyond. Teamed with its amiable winding souks with mild mannered traders. It is a stark contrast to its mother Marrakech, with only a few tourists slowing grazing the streets at an unhurried pace, lingering aimlessly oblivious to the concept of time. Taroudant has an unexplainable Maghrebi mystique that pulls you in and allows you to get a little closer to the true Moroccan way of life.
Dependent on whether Taroudant is the start or end of your Moroccan adventure, it will be by far one of the most inspiring memories you will ever have the pleasure of experiencing .Being made to feel even more connected to the place and its people and the true essence of the Moroccan way of life, which lays a strong foundation on slow, intentional living.
Spend a leisurely afternoon roaming aimlessly through the souks of Taroudant. Meeting the traders with an array of beautiful hand made crafts, take a beat at a local tea shop and enjoy some fresh Moroccan mint tea while people watching or engaging in idyl chitchat with the wait staff who are always willing to share the tales of their beautiful country. Immerse yourself in the daily farmers market which boasts some of the freshest organic seasonal produce or grab a book and nestle in any picturesque corner and let time run away from you.
Come away having greater understanding not just about the art but the artisan. Moroccan’s have been gifted in creating so many incredible things by hand, from ceramics, to glass, iron to wood and everything in between. Understand the history, ancient practices, techniques and tools that are still utilised today to create some of the magic we see adorning so many homes.
Learn from the Masters who have had these skills and techniques passed down to them for generations and understand why their craft is more than just about making beautiful things, but the spiritual art and journey that has brought them profound purpose.
