RITUALS | DRINKING WATER

Rituals bring a meditative state to our day, a sense of ceremony to life. The beauty is in the simplicity, becoming aware of the present moment and that we are always connected.

By introducing rituals into our daily routine, we will see shifts in our consciousness, perspective, patience and more. They keep us feeling grounded and aligned. It may be testing at times because they require us to slow down but, just when we think we’ve surrendered enough, we must surrender more.

It is essential for us to drink water everyday, we can go a few weeks without food but without water for only 3 days, our bodies start to dehydrate and then proceed to shut down as water noruishes and feeds all of our cells, organs, and tissues to help regulate its temperature and maintain other bodily functions. Thus, without water, it can become extremely fatal for your wellbeing. How do you consume your water? It is an integral part of life, here to cleanse and purify us, yet so few of us take the time to be aware of how we are using it and how we can make the most of this magic elixir, turning a mundane experience into a sacred one.

A simple water ritual for you to integrate into your everyday routine is to take a few breaths and bring your awareness to the water and the glass or cup that you are about to use. You can set an intention, pour some love in to yourself, use your favourite glass (if possible, if not use the one you are most drawn to). Once you have poured the water into the cup, hold the cup at your heart center or chakra of choice and give gratitude. Take your first sip and hold the water in your mouth for a couple of seconds, feel the texture and allow it to flow, then bring awareness to your body and see if you can feel the water streaming down. Continue to drink it slowly and bring that awareness to the present moment.

A couple of ways to spice it up. First thing in the morning, have a hot water with lemon, oregano oil and a pinch of pink himilayan salt to cleanse and reset. When it is a new moon or full moon, leave a jug or glass of water on the windowsill, directly under the moonlight, this will soak up lots of moon energy and transfer it from the water into you.
