MEET RACHEL ACKLEY
Breathwork, Reiki and Sound Healer
Rachel Ackley is a breathwork facilitator, 500-hour yoga instructor and healer with a Master’s in Health Promotion. She has advanced trainings in reiki, restorative yoga, health coaching and physiotherapy. As a teacher, her intention is to bring light to the shadow and help students move closer to a life that feels free on the inside. She believes that once we shine light of conscious awareness on the parts of ourselves that we keep hidden, the darkness loses its power over us and we free up vital energy and the unique gifts that we may not have known were there.
From her own experiences, she has learned that we will always be our best teacher. Rachel believes that the relationship that we have with ourselves is one of the most important relationships that we can build. Her work comes from using tools from her own path of healing. Her intention is to help others become more aware of their internal environment by becoming aware of their thoughts, feelings and emotions. She helps students identify where and why resistance shows up in the physical, mental and emotional body so they can gain a deeper meaning of life and connect to their purpose and truth.
Breathwork is one of the most powerful tools that Rachel uses to help students access their unique gifts of creativity and open the heart. It is a self-healing tool that heals wounds at a cellular level and connects you to your internal space. It has the power to change ways of being, anxiety, trauma and depression, while enhancing feelings of love and joy. Rachel works around the seven chakras and teaches that each energy center holds a universal spiritual life lesson that we must learn to evolve into higher consciousness. The breath does the work of shifting any stagnant or blocked energy around the chakras that keeps you feeling low in energy and stuck in life. Leaving breathwork sessions you feel lighter, softer and renewed. You may even experience a feeling of being “high” on energy, love and light.
Halloween Full Moon
Halloween is believed to be the one night of the year when the world between the living and the world between the dead is the thinnest. It is said that on this very night, the spiritual activity is the highest. This opens a doorway of opportunity for us to communicate with those who have crossed over. Halloween is connected to the festival of Samhain which is all about celebrating the cycles of death and rebirth. Not only is this happening in nature but it is something that is mirrored within us as well. The leaves are falling, nature is preparing for the winter months and we are going through our own cycles of letting go and unconsciously preparing for new things to enter in our lives.
What makes this Halloween extra special is that a Full Moon hits us in the morning. It’s a great time to honour the “deaths” that we have experienced in our own lives as we close out the year and honour and make peace with all that we need to release and let go of in order to welcome in a new cycle. It is said that this Full Moon will bring us a strong healing energy that represents the process of awakening.
Using breathwork and sound we will use a natural healing technique to cleanse our internal space so we can release and let go of anything that is preventing us from connecting to the strength and wisdom that we carry inside. When we clear our energy, we move closer to a higher state of consciousness and are better able to clearly see. Even though this has been a challenging year there is so much good that has come our way. Things will always seem worse before they get better. May we be reminded that the true healer is inside of us.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
You will need a mat or blanket to lay on, an extra blanket to cover up with, a journal or piece of paper to write with and pen, water if desired, quiet area, a white candle to light, ideally palo santo or sage to clear your space and promote positive energy, any crystal stones, feathers or something sacred or symbolic to you that you can use to place next to you or create an altar with. What will happen during the offering?
During a breathwork session there are many possibilities of what one can experience. Each session is unique and I encourage one to try breathwork more than once. The more the mind is willing to let go of control, the faster energy starts to move and one falls into the subconscious to access a non-ordinary state of mind. Once people start to fall into relaxation enhanced physical sensations and emotions may be experienced. We always encourage students to not hold back on tears or intense feelings that we often suppress. A breathwork experience can increase imagery, open one to past life events and creativity. One’s temperature may fluctuate from hot to cold depending on where there are blocks in the body. In a breathwork session one might experience waves of colour, a feeling of being “high” on energy, love and light.
Who is this session for?
This session is for anyone that is ready to gain awareness, transform and journey into healing. The main purpose of breathwork is to open the heart and enhance peace within.
What will be achieved?
Breathwork can deepen and enhance the connection that one has to themselves. Similar to a muscle, the more you work at breathwork, the more it’s strengthens and is easier to journey into the subconscious. It promotes awareness, personal empowerment and healing.
SESSION PHILOSOPHY
In any healing process, awareness is the key. The relationship we have with ourselves is the most important relationship we can work to obtain. When we are able to see ourselves clearly with love and acceptance, we can move past our suffering and pain with grace. So much of our suffering comes from past trauma, our ways of thinking and our reactions to the people, places, things and circumstances in our lives. Breathwork is a way to examine ourselves very closely because it strengthens the connection that we have to ourselves and intuition. It’s a natural healing tool that allows one to gain clarity by journeying into the subconscious and removes energy blocks around trauma, fear, negativity, depression, anger and much more. It shines light on our darkness and moves us closer to a life that feels free.
The intention behind breathwork sessions is to reverse the trauma, cleanse the emotional body and move stuck energy around the chakras. By doing this, we create space that allows us to tap into our truth and creativity. It’s a transformative practice that enhances the feelings of love, light and joy. With Rachel being an intuitive practitioner, she focuses on common areas of resistance that show up in life, to support you in healing core wounds.
SESSION OVERVIEW:
During a breathwork session, the session begins with opening the circle, grounding in and setting intentions. A collective crystal card will be pulled and discussed. Group members will then be asked to introduce themselves and state their intention for the session. A light discussion on the theme will be addressed. Next, details of a breathwork session are talked about including what breathwork is, scientifically what happens, components of the work (what is energy, what is healing, what are our chakras, blocks etc.), a safe and supportive space will be given that promotes experiential self-exploration and personal development. We will discuss what an altar is and how it can be used for a session. Students will then be directed to set up their space with no distractions. During a session, music, mantras and guidance from Rachel will be provided while you are breathing. In some of her sessions, she move energy faster by cuing the group to scream. This helps release energy faster especially around the throat chakra. Group members will activity be breathing for 30 minutes with a 5-8 minute shavasana. Afterwards there will be time for members to talk about their experience as much as they wish too, journal and ask questions about their experience.
