Wildcrafting St. John’s Wort: to create your own Oil and Tea

This session will start with Samantha Lee’s signature tea meditation. Once we are all grounded, we will jump into a brief overview on how to wildcraft safely and sustainably. We will then talk about the medicinal wonder plant: St. John’s Wort. St. John’s Wort is a supreme herb that is recognised for its abilities to help with detox, depression, and more. Before delving into making your own infused oil and tea.

We will go through how to identify St. John’s Wort in the wild so you feel confident foraging for it. After we feel confident identifying St. John’s Wort, we will go through step-by-step how to make your very own St. John’s Wort infused topical oil. This plant is special in that we must use fresh plant material when making the oil, so wildcrafting for it yourself is key. This topical oil is also made differently than all other herbal infused oils.

When will you get to start practicing what you learn? Right away! St. John’s Wort is traditionally harvested around the summer solstice. Perfect timing!

SESSION PHILOSOPHY

To truly nourish our health and wellness we need to take a holistic approach. This includes the food we eat, our daily movement, our stress levels, and our quality of sleep. As an herbalist I feel somewhat inclined to add some herbs sprinkled on top of this. I believe the closer we work with nature, the more it nourishes our souls. I love working with herbs I buy from trusted suppliers, but going out into nature and foraging for these plants and creating your own medicine takes this experience to a new level. I want to share this experience with you. Come to this session with your favourite cup of tea and to get excited to learn how to connect and work with plants and nature.
